Who we are

Get Me Irish is an independent, free website with tools and guides about Irish citizenship by descent. We are the controller of the personal data described below.

The eligibility checker

Your answers to the checker stay in your browser for the length of your visit so a page reload does not lose your place. They are not sent to us or stored on a server.

Email signup

If you enter your email address under “Get all access” and tick the consent box, we collect that address.

  • Why: to email you the list of resources and support you asked for, and occasional updates about Irish citizenship. We do not use it for anything else and we never sell it.
  • Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Who handles it: we store your address with Kit (kit.com), our email service provider, which processes it on our behalf. It may be processed outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards Kit provides.
  • How long: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to delete your address, or to show you what we hold, by replying to any email we send you. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

Anonymous usage data

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and which tools are used. It sets no cookies and does not identify you. We may also use Microsoft Clarity to see how people use pages, such as where they click; when enabled it may set cookies and records anonymised interactions. Neither receives your email address.

Record searches

The Irish records finder passes your search to the public Irish Genealogy website to return results. We do not keep a copy of your searches.

Changes

If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and its date. This page is general information, not legal advice.
